[8.20.2014] LOS ANGELES.Several hundred people gathered yesterday at Paradise Baptist Church in South Los Angeles to denouce the shooting death of Ezell Ford at the hands of LAPD officers this month. The officers have not been identified and Chief Beck further refused last night to provide their names and to offer more clear and transparent information to the community about the circumstances leading up to Ezell Ford’s death. The Chief of LAPD was not forthcomig when asked simply why was Ezell Ford “stopped” in the first place.
Chief Beck’s visit to Paradise Baptist was intented to be a reach out to the community. However for many minorities in attendance last night, all it seem to do was shed a brighter light on a long held feeling in black and brown communities that there is a lack of full transparency in police departments across the United States when comes to dealing with them. Ezell Ford’s autopsy has been sealed by police and the details of his death still remain secret.
